We are buying our first home and are new to the many different systems of how the house works and how to maintain them. We've studied up on maintaining households but that doesn't quite compare to actual practice. Michael had all the answers to our questions about each systems and he taught us how they work and how to maintain them. He was very thorough with the inspections as well as in educating us for future household maintenance.

Michael Sauer, Whom I hadn't met before, was a big positive in our process of buying a new home. He is very detail orientated yet highly personable. This is our 5th home inspection in 25 years and by-far the most thorough. His inspection started the moment he pulled up and methodically evaluated the home for the next 3.5 hours. He encouraged participation but also understood as we (I) wandered off taking in the excitement of our soon-to-be new place. A few things stood out: 1) Thoroughness: even the smallest detail was included in this inspection. Remarkable. B) Personable: At ease with people, respectful and courteous. Anyone that stopped by during the inspection was greeted with a handshake by Michael. 3) Natural Teacher: Shadowing him during most of the inspection Michael was an endless source of information, potential problematic areas and even more important optional solutions. We certainly would recommend Michael to anyone.

Michael Sauer was very thorough and professional while completing the inspection on the home we are planning on buying. Mike was extremely thorough. He went over every square inch of the house to inspect it. He is extremely knowledgeable of almost all aspects of house construction (electrical, masonry, etc.) He was polite, friendly, courteous, and able to explain technical things (i.e. electricity) in an easy-to-understand manner. He was very organized and gave us the lay- out of his plan to inspect the house, and in what order. He not only visually inspected things, but seemed to have the right tools to inspect things that can't be seen (radon, current, reverse polarity, etc.) The only problem he seemed to run into was that his flashlight battery died. I had mine with me so it worked out okay. I would highly recommend Mike for an inspection any time.

Mike, just so you know, most furnace manufacturers tell you not to put a screen on the vent pipe. I know for sure Bryant/Carrier tell you not to. The moisture in the flue gasses freeze on it and plug it up.
